Chettinad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ayyanar and Hinduism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Over time, a syncretism took place and indigenous beliefs merged with Brahmanism.<\/strong> Thus, in the 7th century AD, Ayyanar presented himself as the son of Mohini (the female avatar of lord Vishnu) and lord Shiva.
