{"id":29580,"date":"2015-12-22T19:41:29","date_gmt":"2015-12-22T18:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/no-problem-mam.com\/?p=29580"},"modified":"2020-05-25T16:51:17","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T14:51:17","slug":"ranakpur-rajasthan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/en\/ranakpur-rajasthan\/","title":{"rendered":"Ranakpur, the temple with 1444 pillars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>On the road between <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/udaipur-rajasthan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Udaipur <\/a>and <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/jodhpur-rajasthan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jodhpur<\/a>, tucked away in a magnificent valley in the Avaralli hills, there stands a gem of architectural virtuosity: the Jain temple of Ranakpur, one of the largest Jain temples in India.The building is so richly and densely decorated that the gaze pans in amazement across the omnipresent intricate carvings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ranakpur-temple-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Ranakpur\" class=\"wp-image-57438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ranakpur-temple-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ranakpur-temple-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ranakpur-temple-720x480.jpg 720w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ranakpur-temple.jpg 1134w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ranakpur temple complex comprises several temples and is one of the five major pilgrimage sites of the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/culture-india\/spirituality\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jain <\/a><font color=\"#007fac\"><span style=\"caret-color: rgb(0, 127, 172);\"><u>faith<\/u><\/span><\/font> along with <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main temple, the Adinath temple, was built in the 15th century on the orders of a rich merchant, Dharna Sah. He had a vision of the completed temple at the site, recruited an architect called Depa and asked King Kumbha for help. It is built in the classic Nagara style (architecture of North India) and presents a fresco of the sun god in different forms sitting on his chariot drawn by hundreds of horses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
