The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/culture-india\/history-of-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chandela<\/a><\/strong>s, Rajput rulers of central India, built these splendid monuments over a period stretching from the 10th to the 11th centuries. There were originally 85 but only 22 are still standing. They included both <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/culture-india\/spirituality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hindu and Jain temples<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>History<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Khajuraho\" class=\"wp-image-69860\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5-1067x800.jpg 1067w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5-720x540.jpg 720w, https:\/\/magikindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/khajuraho-5.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Devi Jagadambi temple (western group)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Khajuraho temples were in active use through the end of 12th century.<\/strong> This changed in the 13th century, after the army of Delhi Sultanate, under the command of the Muslim Sultan Qutb-ud-din Aibak, attacked and seized the Chandela kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the 13th century to the 18th century, the region was dominated by various Muslim dynasties. During this period, a good number of Hindu monuments were desecrated. It is fortunate that those of Khajuraho were spared. Burt, who will rediscover the various sites of Khajuraho in 1840. Vahara is the avatar of Vishnu in the form of a boar. It is the temple of Shanti Nath. It reproduces the ultimate act of creation, the union of male and female. Sex is the cause of the creation and manifestation of the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Some also say that these temples had educational value<\/strong>.
